Winters Industries Donates $20,000 to the World Famed

The World Famed Tiger Marching Band received a generous $20,000 donation from Winters Industries, an apparel company that specializes in custom merchandise for Divine Nine organizations and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The gift was personally presented by Jerime Winters, a proud member of the World Famed freshman class of 1995, and his wife Victoria Winters, on behalf of their company.

The presentation took place during one of the band’s rehearsals, where Mr. Winters shared heartfelt words about the impact the World Famed has had on his life and career. Calling the donation a “small token of appreciation,” he credited the band for helping shape his work ethic, leadership, and entrepreneurial drive.

His gift, he emphasized, is not a one-time gesture. Winters expressed his desire to make this an annual commitment, reinforcing his long-standing love and support for the program that helped launch his professional journey.

Director of Bands Dr. Nikole Roebuck extended her sincere appreciation to the Winters family:

“We are deeply grateful for Jerime and Victoria’s generosity. Support from our alumni not only helps sustain our tradition of excellence, but it also inspires our students and strengthens the legacy of the World Famed for years to come.”

Netflix Tabs World Famed to Honor the 6888th Battalion at Bayou Classic

Grambling Band Delivers Powerful Tribute to Trailblazing WWII Heroes

In front of a massive national audience at the 2024 Bayou Classic, the Grambling State University “World Famed” Tiger Marching Band delivered a moving halftime tribute at the request of Netflix, performing “The Journey” by Grammy Award-winning artist H.E.R. The performance paid homage to the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion—the first and only all-Black, all-female unit to serve overseas during World War II.

The tribute coincided with the release of the Netflix original film The Six Triple Eight, directed by Tyler Perry and starring Kerry Washington.

Being asked to perform this tribute during the Bayou Classic Halftime Show was an honor of the highest level. Held annually in New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome, the Bayou Classic is one of the most prestigious HBCU sporting events in the nation, drawing over 65,000 fans in attendance and attracting an average television viewership of more than 2 million, broadcast live on NBC.

With their signature precision, passion, and pride, the World Famed Marching Band brought history to life on the field—reminding the world once again why Grambling’s musical legacy continues to shine on the biggest stages.

World Famed Takes Over Super Bowl LIX HBCU Experience in New Orleans

On February 6, 2025, the World Famed Tiger Marching Band had the honor of performing at the inaugural HBCU Day, part of the Super Bowl LIX Experience hosted by the NFL at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This first-of-its-kind event was created to celebrate the deep-rooted impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) within the city and beyond. With New Orleans boasting one of the largest concentrations of HBCUs outside of Atlanta, the NFL sought to highlight the significance of these institutions by incorporating them into the Super Bowl festivities. The event not only honored HBCU culture but also educated attendees about the legacy of Black athletes in professional football and the ongoing contributions of HBCU graduates to the league.

The World Famed Tiger Marching Band brought its signature sound and high-energy performance to the event, marching parade-style through the convention center and electrifying the atmosphere with the unmistakable spirit of Grambling State University. As one of the highlights of HBCU Day, the band’s performance was met with excitement from attendees, including HBCU students, alumni, and Super Bowl fans.

Beyond the entertainment, the Super Bowl HBCU Experience offered giveaways, interactive exhibits, and historical insights into the connection between HBCUs and the NFL, featuring legendary players such as Doug Williams (Grambling State), Aeneas Williams (Southern University), and Mel Blount (Southern University).

As always, the World Famed Tiger Marching Band takes pride in upholding the legacy of Grambling State University and showcasing the excellence of HBCU culture on the national stage. Our participation in the Super Bowl HBCU Experience was another testament to our tradition of greatness, and we look forward to continuing to inspire and uplift audiences everywhere.

Double the Impact: World Famed Takes Over Dallas and Houston on the Same Night

The World Famed Tiger Marching Band continues to prove why its name is synonymous with excellence, precision, and electrifying performances. On February 21, the band reached new heights—literally performing in two cities at once! In an unprecedented display of talent and demand, the World Famed split into two elite performance units, bringing their signature energy to both the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets games on the same night.

The Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets each wanted the World Famed to energize their arenas, setting the stage for an unforgettable night of entertainment. Rather than choosing one opportunity over the other, Dr. Nikole Roebuck and the band leadership made history by ensuring both teams got the full World Famed experience. This bold move not only showcased the band’s extraordinary depth but also reinforced its reputation as a powerhouse in collegiate marching bands.

In Dallas, the World Famed delivered a high-energy performance that had Mavericks fans on their feet, embodying the spirit and excitement that only Grambling’s finest can bring. Meanwhile, in Houston, the band brought that same legendary power to the Rockets’ home court, electrifying the crowd with precision and showmanship that left a lasting impression.

What makes this feat even more remarkable is that despite splitting into two separate groups, the World Famed maintained the same high standards of musicality, intensity, and crowd engagement in both arenas. The ability to execute two top-tier performances in two high-profile venues without sacrificing quality speaks to the incredible depth, discipline, and preparation of the program.

This momentous night adds yet another chapter to the band’s legacy, proving once again why the World Famed Tiger Marching Band is one of the most sought-after collegiate bands in the country. As demand for the band continues to grow, one thing is certain—wherever the World Famed performs, history is made.

World Famed Drumline and Orchesis Dazzle at New Orleans Pelicans Halftime Show

The World Famed Tiger Marching Band continues to cement its legacy on the national stage! On January 17th, the Grambling State University Drumline and Orchesis Dance Company took center court at the Smoothie King Center, delivering an electrifying halftime performance for the New Orleans Pelicans and their roaring fans.

From the moment the first beat dropped, the energy in the arena skyrocketed as the World Famed Drumline unleashed its signature precision, power, and percussive brilliance. Accompanied by the mesmerizing grace of the Orchesis Dance Company, the performance was a masterclass in showmanship—blending rhythm, movement, and the unmistakable essence of Grambling excellence.

For decades, the World Famed Tiger Marching Band has been synonymous with high-profile performances, from Super Bowls to presidential inaugurations. Adding an NBA halftime show to its ever-growing résumé is yet another testament to the band’s reputation as one of the most dynamic and sought-after musical ensembles in the country.

The New Orleans Pelicans crowd welcomed the performance with thunderous applause, proving once again that the sound and spirit of Grambling State University transcend beyond the football field. Whether in a stadium, an arena, or on a national stage, the World Famed continues to inspire, entertain, and showcase the brilliance of HBCU culture.

This latest milestone is more than just a performance—it’s a statement. A statement that Grambling’s legacy is alive, thriving, and ready for whatever stage comes next!
